Monica Tomlinson is currently completing her PhD in clinical psychology at Western University. Her research focuses on substance use, depression, and rehabilitation programs in forensic psychiatry. The “third wave” of psychotherapy has incorporated mindfulness meditation as a psychological approach for putting space between thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. In this talk, she will offer an overview of mindfulness, introduce us to mindfulness meditation, and briefly describe how she has applied mindfulness to non-clinical groups (e.g., those with chronic pain, parents) and clinical groups (e.g., individuals suffering from psychosis). Discussion and participation are welcome!
